How-To: 7 Simple Steps To The Perfect Blowout Hairstyle - Part 2
In Part 1 we taught you how to get the most out of your blowout while keeping your hair healthy in the process. Here in Part 2, we have 7 more tips & tricks for your DIY blowout!
Round Brush Tips: If you blow the heat behind the brush (as you travel down the strand) and create a valley, you will create collapse or make the hair more lean. If you blow dry in the middle/ front of the brush, the hair then runs over the big round part allowing hair to cool in a more full, rounded shape. Items pictured: BlowTYME Hair Dryer and TYME 3-inch Round Hair Brush
Fragile Hair Tips: If you have fine, bleached, or processed hair, the lower the heat and air pressure the better! You can get a lot of bang for your buck out of a lower and cooler setting if you are using the right technique. When you have fragile hair, you can really focus on a good blow dry and then you won’t have to expose your hair to other heat tools until the hair is healthy and less fragile. Remember to keep the shine in your hair to help restore health!
Wavy Hair Tips: In general, medium to high heat works better to reset a shape depending on your skill set with the dryer and the health of your hair. The key is to be precise about your movements and know where to aim your blow dryer in relation to your brush giving your hair the appropriate combination of drying, heating, and cooling! You can also enhance your curl using a diffuser. The diffuser is all about getting the hair in place and drying it with the least amount of movement. The more you move the blow dryer, the more disrupted the curl looks. You can use the diffuser to achieve a less controlled or more controlled curl depending on the look you are going for.
Tips on Tension: The right amount of tension is your friend--you don’t need to have the tension so tight it pulls or tugs, but you do want to have the hair taught on the brush (straight, but not pulling). The more curly your hair is, the more you have to focus on sectioning so you can get close to the scalp to reset the shape from the top of the strand all the way down.
Drying- moisture is what causes natural curl to shape, so if you leave too much moisture in your hair, the natural curl will not reshape or will return to natural curl faster
Heating- if the hair is closer to dry and still has natural curl/wave, you may need to utilize the heat from your blow dryer to reshape the hair
Cooling- Remember--where hair cools is where it stays! The cool shot was invented so that after you heat the hair on a brush, you can then cool it to take on that shape faster. If you love the way a piece is looking when it is warm, allow it to cool in that shape by not displacing it from that shape.

TYME: The New Approach to Hair Care
You deserve to be given back your most coveted asset, your TYME! With this new approach to hair care, you can wash your hair less and have it perform better. Leave the old system behind and make life easy by starting with a great foundation! We’ve all been there. Buying product after product to help fix a certain hair “problem.” You buy shampoo to make your hair feel soft, but then it gets too soft so you need something that will add more texture. Then your hair feels dull so you buy a shampoo to add shine, but then it looks greasy. Eventually, you need a clarifying shampoo to remove all the waxes and coatings that are left on your hair from all the different shampoos, conditioners and styling products. Not to mention you now have a million different bottles cluttering up your shower and cabinets. There has to be a better way, right?! So here at TYME, we set out to make a shampoo and conditioner that can perform for ALL hair types. The manufacturer wasn’t limited on what price point or ingredients to be used and had never been told to create a shampoo and conditioner that was formulated for hair performance AND to be more concentrated, so you don’t have to use as much as you would with traditional shampoo and conditioner. Jacynda, the TYME creator, started thinking about all of the things she wanted to fix about the other options on the market. Some of the hair challenges Jacynda wanted to fix:
Needing a bunch of different products which creates clutter and makes it more complicated and more expensive.
Needing different shampoos and conditioners in one shower for different hair types.
Having to shampoo every day.
Reading the label to know which product is which. We’ve all been there and accidentally put the conditioner on first! ;) Problem solved!!
Needing more than one pump of shampoo and conditioner!
Fragrances that did not go well together within one hair care line.
Our products were designed as a nutrition plan for your hair using the best ingredients for all hair types so that everyone can benefit from using them, no matter who you are. 10 things to expect with Pregame Shampoo and Showoff Conditioner, or Power Couple, as we like to call it 😍:
Expect to have to wash your hair less.
Expect your style to hold longer.
Expect your hair to have volume while still feeling soft and looking silky.
Expect to use one pump of the shampoo and conditioner.
Expect a pump you can use with one hand, so no more picking up the bottle.
Expect to use equal amounts of shampoo and conditioner.
Expect to recognize the shampoo by the bling ring and the top and the conditioner by the bling ring at the bottom.
Expect a locking pump that’s perfect for travel. (Which fit perfectly in our ZipTYME bags)
Expect the same amazing fragrance throughout our entire line of products.
Expect less clutter in your shower.
Since the creation of the TYME Pregame Shampoo and Showoff Conditioner, a few more products have been added. Here is a rundown of each of the products… Pregame Shampoo is sulfate-free and uses fewer surfactants which is more gentle on your hair. Our approach to hydrating your hair is to keep the cuticle layer healthy, which locks in your hair’s moisture and keeps each strand strong. Over time the use of this protein-enriched shampoo can restore your hair and it will look and feel amazing! Showoff Conditioner allows your hair to have volume while still feeling soft and looking silky. Instead of developing multiple shampoos and conditioners that work to manage a particular hair problem, we have created our wet line to nurture the hair from within so there are no hair problems! Upstaged Thermal Protectant combines as many products into one as possible. Upstaged performs to give your hair grip, slip, volume, shine, hold, and thermal protection - all in one bottle! TYMELESS Repair and Shine Spray reduces frizz and leaves your hair looking and feeling silky, shiny, and healthy. It also helps combat humidity. We like to refer to TYMELESS as “liquid gold.” With one spray, you will be hooked! You can feel confident in spraying TYMELESS on your finished style, and it will not only not weigh down your style, but it will also make it look even better! For best results, brush through your hair after spraying. SelfieTYME Hairspray helps hold your style longer. We have added memory resins (Which are these super cool molecules that remember your hairs shape and style. Yes, that exists!) so you can brush your curls and know they will stay in place while leaving your hair soft and touchable. Remember, where hairspray dries is where your hair will stay. :) BigTYME Root Lift Powder, the newest addition to the TYME Hair Care Line, allows your hair to have more volume, grip, and texture. Expect to have to backcomb your hair less when spraying at the roots. BigTYME may be sprayed throughout hair for overall texture and to absorb oil between washes. It also works amazing for adding texture to braids. For more tips and hair tutorials, follow us on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest. How to Use the TYME Iron Left Handed
Okay. so, today, I’m doing left handed. It was very complex for me, and there’s a few learning experiences in it for me, but I found that there’s some people that just don’t have use of their right arm. So, I’m making a left-handed video. It’s way more complex for me, maybe for lefties, it’s not. In this video, I have a few experiences like the new beginners with the TYME iron. So, it’s kind of funny for me. I hope you learn a lot and we can’t wait to see what you create left handed. For the right side, pick the iron up with your left thumb behind the power button. Place the guidelines, (or Guide Side on the Pro version of the Iron), close to your scalp. Lean the tip of the iron forward and rotate the guidelines away from your head toward the mirror. Again, starting by placing your hair between the guidelines, left thumb behind the power light, rotate the guidelines (or curved side) toward mirror, making sure to lean the tip of the iron toward the mirror. This time, I used my right hand to hold the hair that is hanging behind the iron. This allows me to make sure the hair doesn’t drop down into the iron and fall off the heating plates. Switching to the lower left side, I move all of the top section of hair over to the other side. This is an easy way to section without sectioning. Watch how I switch my grip to curl the left side. I place my left thumb under the T in TYME, (or on the temperature lights for the TYME Pro version), and my left pointer finger behind the power light. Pay close attention to how the iron points back over my shoulder with the guide side close to your head. On the left side, always make sure you start by entering the section from the top and the curl up. This will create curl going away from your face on the left side. Rotate the guide side toward the mirror and glide, making sure to stay very close to your head as you glide forward. I also noticed that holding the iron with my three fingers on the button side and my pinky and thumb on the other side give me more control and rotation, hence the funny face when I realized I was doing that. Now that you’ve curled the lower section, you can part your hair how you want it for the final look. To curl towards your face on the left, you will switch your grip to have your thumb behind the power light. This time, keep your cord down and come in from under the section with the guidelines close to your scalp, and rotate from the back to the front. When you are further back on the head, make sure you keep the iron close to your head and the iron is more vertical. It’s really rotated, so I will end up with a more curly curl, but I leave the end out, so it will still have a beachy look. If you want a curly curl, just glide through to the ends. Finishing touches. The goal is to create volume without losing definition. So, I plump the hair and I also define curls. If you have any questions or comments, leave them below. Thanks for watching. Please Note: We will be recreating this video and the step-by-step instructions early 2019. Please be sure to sign up for our email, or to check back soon for the updated video and instructions! How to Eliminate Frizz & Static Once and for All
It’s that time of year when the air gets drier and some people start to deal with dry skin, chapped lips and frizz and static in their hair. We just want to start off by saying if you remember one word from this entire post - remember MOISTURE. One of the most important things you can do to help combat frizz and static is to maintain the proper moisture balance in your hair. It’s actually pretty amazing that, while discussing around the office that a big request for a blog post from our followers was tips and tricks to battle frizz and static, we realized that this is something that no one in our office deals with anymore since we came out with our product line. Here are the top 5 solutions we found for maintaining moisture to eliminate the static blues forever. 5 Ways to Maintain Moisture in Your Hair:
Start with the right foundational products. Maintaining proper moisture content in your hair starts with your foundational products, including your shampoo and conditioner. Pregame Shampoo works to keep the cuticle layer healthy which locks in moisture and keeps the hair strand strong. Over time the use of our shampoo will have your hair feeling hydrated, and it will look and feel amazing- with no static! 😉
Extend your time between shampoos to maintain your natural oil levels. (Check out our blog post 5 Tips for Oily Hair, for tips and tricks to balance your oil levels.)
Thermal protectant will also help maintain the moisture level in your hair by protecting your hair from heat tools. Limitless Universal Spray contains polymers with a very high charge density which allows it to function as an effective anti-static agent without stickiness, greasiness, or build-up problems. It also helps prevent flyaways!
TYMELESS Repair and Shine Spray helps control frizz and static with pro-vitamins which function as hair conditioning agents to provide long-lasting moisture to hair and prevents heat damage due to curling irons and blow dryers. In addition, Baobab Tein helps to protect hair and lock in moisture.
Ionic blow dryers, such as BlowTYME Hair Dryer, help reduce frizz and static by separating the water molecules instead of using pure heat to dry your hair. This will cut down the heat damage that can be done with traditional blow dryers.

How to Make Natural Curls to Smooth Wavy Curls with TYME Iron
One of our favorite perks about the TYME Iron is that you can use it on virtually any hair type! When curling with the TYME Iron on naturally curly or wavy hair, there are a few tips and tricks we want to share with you to make sure you achieve the results you want. Tip 1: Make sure to take vertical sections, and brush through each section before you curl. This will allow your natural curl pattern to stretch out and will allow your hair strand to travel smoothly through the iron. Tip 2: Hold your section flat like a piece of paper using your index and middle finger. This will ensure that your section stays flat, and doesn’t bunch or twist which could cause some unwanted bumps in your curl. Tip 3: When you first start curling, touch the guide side (or curved side) of the iron all the way to your scalp and close and rotate right away. This will get rid of any kinks from your natural curl pattern right at the scalp. Tip 4: Feel free to flip the iron around to the flat iron side to polish your ends if you are not wanting curl all the way to the bottom of your hair and want to achieve a beach wave style. How to Curl Long Hair With Tyme Iron
We get questions all the time in our customer service if the TYME Iron works on long hair. We are here to tell you YES, it does! You curl long hair with the TYME Iron the exact same way you use it on short, or medium length hair. The reason for this is you start at the top of the hair strand and move down, so once you run out of hair is when you stop curling that section. Simple as that. :) Head over to TYME Iron Beginners Guide: Part 2 to learn how to use the TYME Iron on any hair type and length! We are dedicated to making sure you love your TYME products! TYME Iron: Learning the Angles in the Mirror and Getting Rid of Frizz at the Top
There are usually two scenarios that create frizz at the top, which can be easily solved.
If you have a kink or crimped look at the top, make sure you are sectioning your hair forward. That will set all of your hair up to travel forward and smooth the section. You can see how in our "Learning the Angles" video below.
If it is little flyaway hairs that you are referring to, those happen because you are curling all of the hair away from your head. As a result, the shorter hairs pop out. This is easily solved by using a fine-tooth comb to smooth the top or by spraying hairspray and using the side of the can to smooth the top:)
We also have our own line of hair products that can help! Our hair products and the TYME Iron work very well together! :) We are dedicated to making sure you love your TYME products! We offer FREE HangTYME (fun and interactive group learning sessions with inventor & CEO, Jacynda Smith) and StyleTYME (one-on-one sessions with a stylist available upon request) appointments with every purchase! Sign up here. Here is a video that will help with your technique! Hey everyone. Today I'm teaching you in the mirror, so you can set your device up in the mirror as well. We're going to learn this drawing. It came from Melissa. She was one of my FaceTime sessions. These are the notes she took, and I think they're genius. I can't wait to teach them to you. We're going to start out by picking up the iron with your right hand. Right hand with your thumb behind the blue light and the guidelines, (or guide side on the TYME Iron Pro), are on the opposite side of your hand. We're going to bring the guidelines up at a 45-degree angle on your right side, and we're going to show that line in the mirror. So, you have your 45-degree angle. Then we're going to put your cord down. On the left side, we're going to do the guidelines to your head at the 45-degree angle. Take that line and draw it on the left side. This time, your cord will be up. So, we have a 45-degree angle on both sides, which looks like a Rooftop. We're going to take the hair, again at a 45-degree angle, guidelines to your head. Rotate the guidelines towards the line and move forward. Now we're moving down to a point of reference on the right. So this is where we move to. We're going to reflect the same thing on the left. Here's our point of reference. You come in. Guidelines matching your 45-degree angle, rotating them forward, and bringing them down to your point of reference. On the left side, bring my guidelines to my head. Match my 45-degree angle. Rotate the guidelines, and then move in the direction of the lower left reference point, making sure to always fold my iron at that same angle moving down. This time I'm pulling the piece of hair forward to make sure that I'm going in line with the direction I'm going to travel. This will help alleviate creases and different marks. Everything sets up for success when you start with your hair going forward. We're going to put the guidelines in towards the scalp. Rotate towards our point of reference, and move down to the point of reference as well. Again, right thumb behind power button, hair facing forward, guidelines to the scalp. Rotate guidelines forward. Move forward. Notice how I dropped the hair down over the back, and I'm picking it up underneath and leading forward with it. I do that and make sure that the tip of the iron is going to hit just a little bit before the cord of the iron. This motion of holding the hair and leading with the tip of the iron on the right side will make sure that your hair doesn't fall out as you're going long. We're going to put the hair forward, thumb behind blue light, guidelines in. Guidelines rotate forward. Pick up the hair underneath. Lead with the hair and go to your point of reference. You will get a curl every single time doing those motions. On the left side, right thumb behind power button, hair coming forward, guidelines to use ahead, cord up. Rotate guidelines forward at the 45 degree angle and work to your point of reference. On the left side, everything stays the same as the right, except this time we come up over the top, leaving our cord at the top. Rotate guidelines. Move forward going towards the mirror. Again, the tip of the iron leads the way. Guidelines to the head. Rotate forward. Go forward. Make sure that you're using the right amount of tension so it's not tugging, and letting it glide through, and the right speed so that when your hair comes out it looks like silk. If you go too fast, it'll look like frizz. I place it in, making sure the hair is on the plate, nice and spread out. As I do this motion, holding the hair, straightening it out, it's keeping it spread out as it feeds into the iron. That will give you a more spread out full curl. It's a great tip for people with fine hair. In the back right, everything stays the same. Guidelines in. Rotate them towards the mirror and work to my same point of reference, making sure I stay close to my head where I can almost bonk it with the iron. It's important to stay close to your head and not work out to the side. If my hair is shorter, I'm just going to grab the piece closer and show you what a shorter piece would look like. If it's really short, I go in with my guidelines there, do everything the same. Here short hair would fall out. Long hair, you just continue forward. On the upper left section forward, as always pulling your hair forward. Every single piece of hair is sectioned coming forward because that's the motion we're taking the care. Lift your cord. Guidelines to the head. Rotate guidelines to the mirror and move to your lower point of reference, making sure the hair doesn't fall off the plates. Section the hair forward. If it was shorter, I'm going to hold really close to show you what a shorter piece would look like. We're going to come in, angle the iron, rotate, move forward as I wrap it around my head. There, a short piece ends. For longer hair, you just keep moving forward. Always working forward towards the mirror as your point of reference. Staying closer to your head makes curls form better. For lower pieces, just come in. Move your chin out of the way and go forward to your point of reference. Frizz and creases are two easy problems to address. Creases, prep the hair by going forward. Make sure you don't squeeze tight, and roll it back. Then you can slowly increase your tension if needed. Most of the time, you don't need to. Frizz is caused by going too fast. If you go the right speed, your hair will come out looking like silk. Make sure you do that. When it looks like silk, that's when the curls last longer. We're going to pick right back up, the angle being the 45-degree angle. Rooftop line. Going forward. This is how you approach your hair from every angle of your head, from the front, from the back, from the side, from the front. Always using that same motion. Once you've learned these principles, you'll be able to change them and apply them in different ways, but you need to know the rules to break the rules. For more tips and hair tutorials, follow us on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest. You can also explore our How to Use the TYME Iron page for step-by-step videos.
How to Wash Your Hair Less and Look Amazing for Days
In one of our last posts, we talked about how to extend your days between shampoos, and this tyme we want to teach you how to do it! First, start with the right foundational products. You will not want to use a shampoo that makes your hair feel heavy or greasy. We love TYME Pregame Shampoo and Showoff Conditioner. It also helps to understand that your scalp needs to adjust to less washes when starting out. It typically takes your scalp around a month to adjust to not shampooing every day. Sooo, now that you can go days between washing your hair, how will you switch up your style throughout the week? Let’s get started! Day 1 For day one it’s easy to throw in some curls. For this style, Hannah used the TYME Iron and curled her hair away from her face rocking a center part. Other variations would be to change up the part or alternate curls going toward and away from your face. Day 2 A day two style option is to simply brush through your curls, reshape them, and twist the front pieces back securing with bobby pins. Day 3 On day 3, one option is to pull up the top panel of your hair with an elastic. Depending on what look you are going for, you can play with the placement of the ponytail. Closer to your front hairline is a more sporty look and a little farther back is more dressy. You can wrap hair around the elastic to cover it and dress it up a little as well:) Day 4 From casual day at the office to date night, on day four you can rock a couple different looks:) For this bubble braid, the braid anyone can do in 3 easy steps:
Pull hair into a low ponytail at your nape.
Add an elastic band about 3” from the base of the ponytail. Pull apart section to create a bubble effect. Spray with BigTYME Root Lift Powder for added texture and staying power.
Repeat in 3” increments down your ponytail until you reach the end leaving a small tail.
At the end of your casual day at the office, simple remove the elastic bands and brush through your hair for a romantic look of casual waves for date night:) For more tips and hair tutorials, follow us on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest
5 Tips for Oily Hair
Can you even imagine how freeing it is to wake up and not have to wash your hair every day?! If you battle greasy or oily hair and feel like you need to shampoo every day or every other day, then this post is for you! Here are 5 simple tips to help you wash your hair less:
Hand’s off!! Keeping your hands out of your hair will help because your hands produce oil which can then be transferred to your hair if you are touching it.
Oil-based shine serums. If you want to add shine to your hair, try using a shine product that is oil-free such as TYMELESS Repair and Shine Spray.
Over-washing your hair (including the use of dry shampoo) is one of the main culprits of oily hair! Washing your hair too often makes your scalp produce more oils. Try adding a few days between washes.
Rinse your hair thoroughly when shampooing and conditioning.
Using water that is too hot when shampooing and conditioning can stimulate oil glands and make them produce more oil.
You will not want to use a shampoo that makes your hair feel heavy or greasy. It also helps to understand that your scalp needs to adjust to fewer washes when starting out. It typically takes your scalp around a month to adjust to not shampooing every day, so don’t get discouraged! We recommend TYME Pregame Shampoo and Showoff Conditioner because they are mild cleansers that are designed to restore and maintain moisture in your hair, which causes all kinds of awesome benefits including being able to go days and days between washes. While waiting for this adjustment, play with different hairstyle options on days 2, 3, or 4. Maybe throw on a hat, try a cute braided bun or try a sleek ponytail since you’ll have some extra tyme in your morning routine ;) For more tips and hair tutorials, follow us on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest
