How the quiz decides
Mostly by what you want your hair to do, because that is what actually separates these tools. The one exception is length.
The 1.25 inch gives you ringlet curls or beachy waves, depending on how you angle and rotate it. The 2 inch is not a curl iron in the usual sense: it is there to put volume and movement into the hair, the kind of body a blowout gives you. Both work on any hair type and any length. The Iron Pro, which is the original TYME iron, and the Iron Air are the two that straighten as well as curl, and both are at their best on medium to coarse hair at bra strap length or shorter.
Length is the one answer that can overrule the rest. If your hair is longer than bra strap, the quiz will send you to a curling iron even if you said you want to straighten, because the Iron Pro and the Iron Air get harder to handle the longer the hair is. That is the same advice a stylist would give you at the chair, and we would rather tell you now than after you have bought the wrong tool.

Start on the lowest heat setting. If your hair is not holding the style, go up one, and stop as soon as it does. Hair texture and density vary enormously and that is exactly why there is a range of settings rather than one. Nobody needs to start at 400F.
